Refrigerator Incubators

May 24, 2005 kvctu Fish Passage

On a small tributary to the Sandy River chapter members helped Paul Christman and Dan McCaw with a project designed to hatch Atlantic Salmon eggs streamside – IN REFRIGERATORS. The good part is it worked.

Below are some shots showing the way things were rigged.  The streamside refrigerators have given way to actual in-stream fertilization and the hatching of eggs in man made redds. But in 2005 these refrigerator incubators were cutting edge technology.
