Women’s Day – 2013 – Learn Fly Fishing Basics

Are you a woman who would like to learn what “Fly Fishing” is all about. Or do you know a woman who would like to learn the basics of Fly Fishing.  Then send them a link to this page. They are welcome to attend this free event.

 

WHEN: Saturday, May 18th, 10 AM – 4 PM Come for the day or for a few hours.

 

WHO: Any woman (includes Moms & daughters) who would like an introduction to the art of casting a fly rod and tying a fly and the possible experience of catching a fish. Instruction will be informal and individual or in small groups. Experienced women fly fishers will be on hand to offer coaching along with experienced male instructors.

 

WHAT: A fun day at the free flowing section of the Sebasticook River in Winslow. Bring your own fly rod or use one from the Chapter’s loan closet. Sandwiches, chips, and beverages will be provided by the Chapter and there is no charge for lessons, equipment, or lunch.
Although a Maine fishing license is not required for casting lessons on the lawn, persons aged 16 and over must have a license to actually fish in the Sebasticook River. Maine fishing licenses cannot be purchased at the event. We suggest that you bring sunglasses or safety glasses, a hat, jacket or rainwear, sturdy shoes or boots, waders, sun block, and bug dope. We will fish rain or shine.

 

WHERE: On private property on the banks of the Sebasticook River in Winslow, Maine and directions will be provided once you sign up for the event.
